Back on the boxes at KOH!

We did it again! For the 2nd time we have put our Can-Am UTV on the podium at the hardest off road race in the world! Starting in the 26th position for the Canam UTV Hammers championship after battling some mechanical issues during qualifying. Paul would take to the course in a field of over 120 competitors. After setting a blistering pace in the desert on lap one, he would work his way up to physically 2nd on course in the rock loop of lap 2. At the start of the second lap Paul had lost brakes in his car after catching some rock spray from a competitor as he was overtaking their vehicle. Leaving him and his co driver Erik Miller with a very challenging 2nd lap ahead of them.

With the loss of brakes it was proving impossible to prevent a roll over on certain downhill obstacles forcing Paul and Erik to perform several recoveries throughout the remainder of their race. Putting their Warn winch to the test Paul and Erik kept themselves in contention for the podium spot until they crossed the finish line. Being the 5th physical finisher of the day and 3rd in the 4900 UTV pro modified class. Cementing his Win for the 2024 Ultra4 USA UTV Pro modified National Championship. Alongside the 2024 UTV Open National Championship.

Moving on into the 4400 class. For the third year in a row Paul qualified himself into a front row starting position. Taking the pole(1st) during qualifying day in a field of over 100 competitors! Proving once more he is one of the fastest and drivers in the sport.

Come race day Paul left the starting grid on the front row and maintained his position through the majority of the first lap coming to the main pit in physical 2nd at the end of his first lap for a top off of some VP racing fuels. Tearing out of the pit just minutes behind the race leader. Hunting down Loren during his second lap. Paul worked his way through with a pace that would not keep himself in 2nd for very long. Closing the distance between himself and the lead car while battling technical issues within the motor. Paul would make the pass for the lead in one of the toughest sections of the 2nd lap known as “jackhammer”. After getting the clean air his lead began to stretch over several miles on course.

Still fighting mechanical issues Pauls day would be cut short when his mechanical issues began to outweigh his determination to win.  After doing all he could to stay in contingency. His day would come to an end much earlier than desired. But the race was not yet over for Paul as he showed all the viewers that tuned in live that day either on his personal car stream or that of King of the hammers that his camaraderie for his fellow competitors overtook the frustration of defeat. Assisting all that passed him by winching and navigating them through one of the harder obstacles on race course.
