Its been a while since we have sent an update to you guys so lets catch up!
Over the past two months the wolff racing team has traveled nearly 10,000 miles across the country to multiple different states competing with Ultra4 USA and Amsoil Championship offroad race series. 6 race weekends, 4 pole position qualifying runs, Several fastest lap times of the weekend and 3 podium finishes. Winning the last two Ultra4 UTV pro modified races in a row.
August 1-2 – Sturgis, SD – Ultra4 USA black hills throwdown
Taking place during the famous Sturgis motorcycle rally. This event featured a 7 mile short course styled race track. Nestled in the beautiful black hills of South Dakota. The cars were put on full display after parading through the famous buffalo chip campground and then parked at the main stage on Friday night just after Paul qualified 1st in 4400 class and 3rd in the UTV pro modified class. After suffering a mechanical failure during the UTV open class Paul would borrow and rental car from a competitor to compete in the UTV pro modified class. Forced to take a rear start for using a car that was not used to qualify for the race. Paul battled all the way to a podium finish in 2nd place. After Leading the 4400 race for three laps Paul lost a rear driveshaft and suffered a leak from the power steering pump that would force him to retire from the race early.
August 29-31 – Crandon, WI – Ultra4 / Champ offroad
Arguably the largest offroad motorsports event in the world. The Crandon world championships. Transforming a town of 714 people to over 75,000 every year on Labor Day weekend for the past 56 years. Paul was registered to race in the 4400, UTV open, UTV pro modified and the Pro 4 classes. Running more races than any other driver that weekend. Qualifying 1st in UTV open, 2nd in 4400 and was unable to qualify in the pro modified due to all of the UTV classes qualifying together. Paul could technically only qualify for one class. Paul ran two utv races Friday night both ending in mechanical failures that would retire him early. Saturday Paul would again run 2 utv race and a 4400 race. Winning the Utv pro modified ‘Rage on the rocks’ race. After taking the lead during a blistering pass from third to 1st early on in the 4400 ‘rage on the rocks’ race. A mechanical issue would retire Paul after 2 laps. Sunday the Red Bull World Cup 4400 race started very good. Paul would fight up to 2nd position very early in the race. nearly overtaking for the lead before another technical issue would take Paul out of contention for the win. Finishing 5th. Qualifying the pro 4 in the top 10. Itwould suffer a mechanical failure during Saturdays race that made the truck unable to race for the remainder of the weekend.
September 5-6 – Bowling green, KY – Ultra4 beech bend melee / Holley LS fest
What’s grown to be one of the biggest events on the east coast on the United States. The Hometown of Holley performance hosts Ls fest east. Drawing in tens of thousands of motorsports enthusiasts of all different backgrounds. For the very first time Ultra4 was there to race in front of these enthusiasts. Qualifying in 2nd in 4400 Paul would win his heat race and go on to lead the main race for the first three laps before losing a serpentine belt. In UTV open Paul would take 2nd in the prelim and would not finish the main due to a mechanical. In UTV pro modified Paul would finish 2nd in the prelim and go on to WIN the main. Capping the weekend off with the burnout wars team at the burnout pad with the 4400 car. Putting on a show for over 15,000 gear heads.
